Why I love Ocean City New Jersey
One of my favorite memories as a child is going to the beach in Ocean City New Jersey. I was born and raised just over the bridge on the mainland in Upper Township. It is very different being from that short 15-minute drive from Memora. Although I was so close to the Jersey shore and many people would consider me living there, I felt like I was an eternity away. Is the feeling that we had growing up when everything seemed bigger than it actually is now. It seemed like I was living so far away from the beach. When in fact looking back at it now I lived at the beach.
Living in a beachfront home in Ocean City New Jersey
I always wanted to live in a beach house in Ocean City New Jersey. When I was in my mid-20s that dream finally came true. I was able to rent a multimillion dollar beachfront home on 52nd St. in Ocean City for an entire winter. This is considered the north end by the locals. And let me tell you, it was every bit of great that I ever had imagined. Waking up and looking through floor-to-ceiling windows of the beach and ocean every day makes you feel like you’re living in a dream. I can still close my eyes and see out those windows. I can see the seagulls flying around the beach. I can also remember watching my roommate surfing while I’m sitting on the couch in the living room. What a life!
One of the things that I could never believe the winters in Ocean City NJ is that all the beachfront real estate seemed to be empty. The vast majority of the oceanfront property is owned by people that use it for a second home or a summertime vacation rental. These dream homes are many times vacant during the entire off-season.
Now I lived in beautiful Santa Rosa Beach Florida. Once again near the beach. I sell real estate, raise my daughter that is now eight years old and try to appreciate life at the beach with her. My hope is to take her to Ocean City New Jersey during the summer and show her where I grew up. I would really like for her to experience the OC boardwalk, ice cream, Johnson’s popcorn and the ferris wheel at Wonderland.
