One of 2016 top 10 beaches in the US by Dr. Beach is Grayton Beach State Park
The beaches of South Walton in the Panhandle Florida are well known in the southeast region for having beautiful sugar white sand beaches and Emerald colored water. This year Dr. beach names Grayton Beach state park as one of the top 10 best beaches in the US. This is a great honor for not only Grayton Beach but all of South Walton Beach. As stated in the article “big sand dunes still dominate the landscape.” This is because the Grayton Beach State Park has made sure development has not touched this area of the Florida Panhandle. Many people travel from all over the region to camp at this Gulf front state park. It’s not just the tall sand dunes that keep vacationers cameras flickering. You can also explore one of the rare coastal dune lakes while staying at this park.
When Dr. Beach named Grayton Beach in the top 10 beaches in the country I obviously wanted to share this with everyone visiting the site. Not everyone is aware when visiting the 30a area that they can explore the beautiful Grayton Beach State Park for the day even if they are not camping. So whether you are staying in the nearby town of Grayton Beach or Watercolor make sure you include the state park in your itinerary of things to do on your next trip.
One of the newest things to hit the town of Grayton Beach is its first artificial reef. It’s a great place for scuba diving and even snorkeling. You can reach the reef by swimming, kayaking or paddle boarding directly from the beach. You can also get to the reef by private or charter boat. The reef was placed in 2015 and is already attracting tropical fish.
